Why Report
- Reporting of communicable diseases is mandated by New Jersey Administrative Codes and Statutes (N.J.A.C. 8:57, N.J.A.C. 3A:52).
- Timely reporting of communicable diseases allows public health agencies to identify newly emerging infections, detect outbreaks, prevent secondary transmission, and evaluate the effectiveness of control measures.

- A list of reportable communicable diseases mandated by New Jersey Administrative Code is included
How to Report
Report immediately reportable communicable diseases (including newly identified or suspect outbreaks) to the Health Department by phone:

Reporting of communicable diseases, as required by law, to the local or state health departments is permitted under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
