Pedestrian & Bicycle Safety

Drive Smart: Yield at crosswalks and intersections

In May 2023 Montgomery Police conducted an initiative to enhance pedestrian and bicycle safety in the Township.

A report, found below, was issued by The Greater Mercer TMA summarizing the Township's actions.

Page one under 'Street Smart Montgomery' is a brief summary of the actions that were taken.

The section that follows, 'Street Smart Online Survey,' covers the survey questions, answers, and results.

We encourage all drivers, pedestrians, and cyclist to read the below survey and increase your knowledge of the rules of the road. You may be surprised at what you learn!

Additionally, Montgomery Police received a grant from AAA to conduct a pedestrian safety enforcement decoy program. The police conducted two enforcement details during the month. These enforcement details resulted in 80 motor vehicle stops, 44 summonses, and 29 written warnings.

Among other actions, Montgomery Police Patrol and Traffic Divisions issued 150 'good conduct citations' for youth cyclists under 16  'caught' wearing bike safety helmets. Good job! Each citation is good for one free ice cream at a local ice cream parlor.  Read more in below report.

Pedestrian and bicycle safety reminders are also linked below the report at the bottom of this page.

Remember: Traffic safety is everyone's responsibility.
